Add a modern pairing of American flag symbolism and a classical phrase to your collection with the Molon Labe USA Split patch. This embroidered patch measures 3 × 2 inches and uses hook backing for attachment to a compatible loop panel.
The phrase behind the design
Molon Labe is commonly translated as “Come and take them.” The saying is traditionally attributed to Leonidas in response to a demand to surrender arms at Thermopylae in 480 BC. Its familiar wording appears in Plutarch's Sayings of Spartans, written centuries after the battle, rather than in a contemporary transcript.
American symbolism, modern combination
The modern United States flag uses thirteen stripes to recall the original colonies and fifty stars to represent the states. The 50-star version became official on July 4, 1960. That national flag history is separate from the ancient literary tradition associated with Molon Labe.
The USA Split design combines those references in a contemporary patch. It is not an original Spartan insignia, an early American flag, or an official military issue. The related English wording “Come and Take It” also has a distinct historical association with the 1835 cannon dispute at Gonzales, Texas; this modern combination is not a reproduction of that banner.
What it can mean today
A wearer may choose the design for national identity, defiance, or gun-rights advocacy, among other personal meanings. The patch does not establish a wearer's service history, affiliation, or beliefs.
