Blood Type Patches
About this Collection ▼
Blood type patches are a critical piece of any tactical kit. In an emergency, a clearly visible blood type patch allows medics and first responders to make faster, potentially life-saving decisions about blood transfusions. At BuckUp Tactical, we carry PVC and embroidered blood type patches for all eight major blood types — all with Velcro backing for easy attachment to plate carriers, vests, and bags.
Available Blood Types
- O Positive (O+) – Most common blood type
- O Negative (O-) – Universal donor — the most critical patch to wear
- A Positive (A+) – Second most common
- A Negative (A-)
- B Positive (B+)
- B Negative (B-)
- AB Positive (AB+) – Universal recipient
- AB Negative (AB-) – Rarest blood type
Where to Wear a Blood Type Patch
The standard military placement is the left shoulder strap or left chest panel of a plate carrier or tactical vest — where it's easily visible to a medic. See our patch placement guide for more options.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do blood type patches need to be accurate?
Yes — if you're wearing a blood type patch for tactical or emergency purposes, it must reflect your actual blood type. An incorrect patch in a real emergency could be dangerous.
What size are blood type patches?
Most blood type patches are 1"x2" or 2"x3". Check individual product listings for exact dimensions.
Do blood type patches come with Velcro?
Yes — all BuckUp Tactical blood type patches include hook-and-loop (Velcro) backing.
Are blood type patches only for military?
No. They're widely used by law enforcement, EMTs, hunters, hikers, and anyone who carries a trauma kit or spends time in high-risk environments.
