USA Flag Forward Facing Morale Patch
Add a U.S. flag reference to your collection with this 3 × 2-inch morale patch. Hook backing attaches to a compatible loop panel on your pack, hat, or other gear. Measure the usable panel before ordering.
The history of the 50-star flag
The modern 50-star United States flag became official on July 4, 1960, following Hawaii's admission as the fiftieth state in August 1959. It replaced the 49-star version introduced after Alaska became a state.
The Flag Act of 1818 established thirteen stripes and one star for each state, with additions taking effect on the July 4 following admission. The thirteen stripes recall the original colonies; the fifty stars represent the states.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower's Executive Order 10834 set specifications for the new design in 1959. Its star field uses nine staggered rows alternating between six and five stars. This explains the national flag's design, rather than certifying every detail or proportion of this modern patch.
Historical reference, personal meaning
This is a modern morale patch, not an official uniform issue or a historical artifact. A wearer may choose a U.S. flag patch for national identity, heritage, service, or another personal reason. It does not establish the wearer's military status or beliefs.
